Vietnamese, Myanmar First Ladies Visit Hoi An Ancient Town

The First Lady of Vietnam and the First Lady of Myanmar visited the ancient town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This visit served as an opportunity to reaffirm the long-standing friendship between the two countries and the important role of cultural exchange in bilateral relations. Both leaders agreed that parliamentary diplomacy plays an important role in bilateral relations, helping to consolidate political trust, promote and oversee the implementation of high-level agreements, and thereby make a positive contribution to peace, stability, and cooperation in the region and the world. The long-standing friendship between the two countries, elevated to a Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership in 2017, was lauded as having been built and nurtured by generations of leaders and peoples of both sides. The official visit to Vietnam by the President of Myanmar and his spouse is expected to open up opportunities to further strengthen the Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership, particularly in the economy, trade, investment, science – technology, connectivity, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples and expanding cooperation within both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.
