Da Nang Police Deputy Director Appointed Head of Internal Political Security Department

Colonel Nguyen Dai Dong, 47, has been appointed as the new Director of the Internal Political Security Department of the Ministry of Public Security. Dong previously served as the Deputy Director of the Da Nang City Police and Head of its Security Investigation Agency. The appointment was announced on September 17 by Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security. The ministry urged the new director to proactively grasp the situation and effectively advise on and handle complex issues related to internal political security, ideology, culture, information, communication, and the protection of state secrets, ensuring no unforeseen circumstances arise. Colonel Dong, originally from Hanoi, has extensive experience within the Ministry of Public Security, including roles in the Cultural Security Department, the General Security Department, and the Internal Political Security Department itself. Since March 2022, he held key positions in the Da Nang City Police, and from July 2025, he also chaired the Party Committee's Inspection Commission of the city's police. He is also a member of the 16th National Assembly. Dong's appointment fills the vacancy left by Lieutenant General Dinh Van Noi, who was transferred to become Deputy Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Phu Quoc Special Zone approximately two months prior. In Vietnam's one-party system, such high-level personnel changes are typically aimed at consolidating the Party's control and maintaining domestic stability, which is crucial for attracting foreign investment amid the country's ongoing economic growth.
