Illegal Encroachment Attempts on State Forest Land in Kirirom National Park Uncovered

In Cambodia's Kampong Speu province, it has been revealed that attempts to illegally encroach upon state forest land, protected by royal decree within Kirirom National Park, are still ongoing. Park authorities are making efforts to prevent these attempts. On September 10, Mr. Pov Vuthy, Chief of the Kirirom National Park Office, led seven park rangers in a crackdown operation against illegal fencing activities on state land intended for private ownership. The area in question is located at coordinates 398531-1254410, 398388-1254400, 398386-1254447, and 398529-1254445, within the "Preah Soramrit-Kosomak Kirirom National Park" in Chambok Commune, Phnom Sruoch District, Kampong Speu Province. Park officials discovered 100 boundary posts (75 stone, 25 wooden) and three strands of barbed wire, stretching 450 meters, encircling an area of 0.08 hectares.
