Thai Parliament Cafeteria Ceiling Collapse Prompts Safety Enhancements

A ceiling panel collapse incident, involving two panels, occurred at the Thai Parliament's cafeteria on September 13. Following this, Speaker of the House of Representatives Sopon Saram, accompanied by Secretary-General of the House of Representatives Siroj Paetphan, executives from the Secretariat of the House of Representatives, and four engineers from the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, inspected the Kinnie Foodcourt located on B2 of the Parliament building to address the issue. An inspection by engineers from the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning found that the main structure was sound and unaffected. The fallen panels were gypsum due to moisture resulting from temperature fluctuations in the air conditioning system, causing water to drip at the incident site. Repair work has now been completed. The engineers have instructed the use of larger screws than before to ensure stronger fixation of the ceiling panels.
