The rankings were compiled by surveying city residents worldwide on factors such as the affordability of nights out, and whether their city feels lively, diverse, and safe after dark, combined with evaluations from Time Out's experts. A total of 73% of Bangkok residents rated the city's nightlife as good or amazing. Time Out's experts praised its variety, from rooftop venues and dive bars to a wide range of other options. According to city statistics, Bangkok has 1,091 registered entertainment venues under the supervision of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). Berlin, renowned for its clubbing scene, came in second, with 78% of local residents giving its nightlife a high rating. New York City took third place, with Time Out highlighting its ever-evolving nightlife scene. Melbourne in Australia and São Paulo in Brazil rounded out the top five.
