King Praises Citizens for Upholding Ancestral Traditions During Pchum Ben Festival

His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia has highly praised the spirit of solidarity, unity, and good relations among the Cambodian people who continue to preserve and protect the customs and traditions of their ancestors on the occasion of the Pchum Ben festival. This was according to the King's royal message to his compatriots on the occasion of the Pchum Ben festival. This year's Pchum Ben festival will be held from the first day of the waxing moon to the 15th day of the waxing moon of the month of Bhadrapada, Year of the Horse, the eighth year of the Buddhist Era 2570, corresponding to September 27 to October 11, 2026. The Pchum Ben festival is a major traditional national festival that the Cambodian people have celebrated every year since ancient times. The royal message stated: "This festival has profound importance and meaning, as it is a special occasion for all Cambodian people, whether near or far, to return to their hometowns to reunite with family and friends and participate in traditional ceremonies at their homes and pagodas." It added that the festival is also a time for Cambodians to show filial piety and offer merits to their ancestors and relatives who have passed away. On this occasion, the King expressed his admiration and high appreciation for the spirit of solidarity, unity, and good relations demonstrated by the Cambodian people through their participation in glorious national traditional festivals.
