36 undocumented Myanmar nationals arrested by Thai authorities in Kanchanaburi Province within two days

It has been reported from Thai sources that 36 undocumented Myanmar nationals were arrested by Thai authorities in Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand, within two days. On July 15, Thai authorities, acting on a tip-off, were waiting on the main road within the Wang Dong village group in Kanchanaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province, when they spotted a suspicious TOYOTA REVO vehicle. They attempted to stop it for inspection, but the vehicle fled. The Thai police pursued and arrested the vehicle. Subsequently, Thai authorities inspected the vehicle and discovered 10 undocumented Myanmar nationals, consisting of 4 men and 6 women, crammed among clothing in the rear seat and under the tarp of the trunk, along with the driver, a 48-year-old Thai national named Nit. All were arrested and taken to the Lat Ya Police Station, according to Thai reports. Upon questioning by Thai authorities, the arrested undocumented Myanmar nationals stated that they had entered Thailand through illegal routes from the Phra Sam Suan area on the Thai-Myanmar border with the intention of working in Bangkok and Phetchaburi Province. They reportedly paid the broker between 14,000 and 18,000 Thai baht for travel expenses, and the driver, Nit, was to receive 7,000 Thai baht after delivering the undocumented Myanmar nationals to their designated location, according to Thai news outlets. In connection with this incident, the Thai driver has been charged with concealing and aiding illegal foreign nationals, while the 10 undocumented Myanmar nationals have been charged with illegal entry and residence in Thailand without permission, according to Thai reports. Similarly, on July 16, at approximately 10:30 PM local time, Thai authorities on patrol in the village of Moo 8, Nong Lu sub-district, Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province, encountered a suspicious group of people gathered near the forest edge. Upon investigation, 22 undocumented Myanmar nationals were found and taken to the Sangkhlaburi Police Station. These undocumented Myanmar nationals have been charged with illegal entry and residence in Thailand without permission at the Sangkhlaburi Police Station, according to Thai reports. Furthermore, on the night of July 16, Thai authorities inspected an Isuzu D-Max vehicle parked at a gas station in Sangkhlaburi District and arrested an additional 4 undocumented Myanmar nationals who were traveling in the vehicle.
