Palace Declares Special Holidays for Local Festivals Across Philippines

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared special non-working days in several towns and cities this month to allow residents to participate in local celebrations and festivals. Proclamation 1429 declared Sept. 26 a special non-working day in Naval, Biliran for the town’s 166th Pueblo Day or charter day. Sept. 28 is a special holiday in Alicia, Isabela as provided under Proclamation 1430 for the celebration of the town’s founding anniversary. Proclamations 1431 and 1432 declared Sept. 29 a special non-working day in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte and Irosin, Sorsogon, respectively. The proclamations allowed residents of Iligan to celebrate the Diyandi Festival and the people of Irosin to participate in the Paray Festival. Sept. 30 will be a special non-working day in Masbate City, which will mark its 26th cityhood anniversary, according to Proclamation 1433. Proclamation 1435 declared Sept. 14 a holiday in Sariaya, Quezon for the celebration of the town fiesta. Proclamation 1436 declared Sept. 12 a special non-working day in Cavinti, Laguna to allow residents to celebrate Reconstitution Day. Executive Secretary Ralph Recto signed the proclamations on Sept. 10 by the authority of President Marcos.
