Husband Arrested in Prey Veng for Wife's Murder in Takeo

A brutal incident where a husband allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times, resulting in her death, occurred in Takeo province, southern Cambodia. The suspect husband was apprehended by police in the neighboring Prey Veng province. The incident took place on August 7, 2026, around 11:40 AM, in Dak Vang village, Udom Soriya commune, Tram Kok district, Takeo province. The victim has been identified as Nil Chan Sophya, 50, female, and the suspect as her husband, Chum Pho, 48, male. Chum Pho is accused of stabbing his wife approximately five times, leading to her immediate death at the scene. Following the crime, the suspect, Chum Pho, fled on a black 2020 Dream C125 motorcycle (license plate: Takeo 1V-4858). Upon receiving information, police forces, led by Mr. Duk Thiya, Chief of Tram Kok District Police Inspectorate, collaborated with relevant units in an investigation and pursuit operation, culminating in the suspect's arrest in Pearang district, Prey Veng province. Currently, the suspect has been brought to the Takeo Provincial Police Commissionerate for questioning and the establishment of a case file for legal proceedings.
