North Sumatra Rice Stock Safe, Coordinating Minister Assures After Visit
Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs has affirmed that rice stocks in North Sumatra are in a safe condition following an inspection of a Bulog warehouse in Medan City. He emphasized the maintenance of food supply to the public as part of the President's strategic food security enhancement program.
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago has ensured that rice stocks in North Sumatra are in a safe condition, after reviewing the Pulo Brayan Darat I Bulog Warehouse in Medan City, Friday (3/7). Djamari said the results of the review showed that the government's rice reserves, distribution system, and Perum Bulog's readiness in maintaining food security in the region were running well. "The distribution plan is very good, as is the income plan. This shows that the system that has been prepared is running well," said Djamari as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, July 4. According to him, the food reserves managed by Bulog are a vital element for the sustainability of the country because no nation can survive without adequate food availability. "No nation can live without food," he said. Djamari emphasized that strengthening food security is one of President Prabowo Subianto's strategic programs. The government not only targets the achievement of food self-sufficiency, but also has a vision of making Indonesia a world food warehouse. He appreciated the Bulog team for their efforts to maintain national food availability and hoped that food distribution would continue to run well so that the needs of the community in all regions were met. "Thank you to all the ranks of Bulog. The people's hope is that food will remain available in every region. Happy work and thank you for the trust this country has given," he said. Previously, Perum Bulog North Sumatra Regional Office stated that it had received an additional 15,000 tons of rice from the central Bulog to strengthen the basic food stock to meet the needs of the community in the region. Now Bulog North Sumatra rice stocks have reached around 56,796 tons. The rice reserves are also projected to be able to meet the needs for up to eight months.
