Over 2,000 in Ratanakiri Gain Skills and Income Through Vocational Training Program

In Ratanakiri province, northeastern Cambodia, over 2,000 youths and citizens from impoverished and vulnerable families are acquiring specialized skills and stable incomes through a free vocational training program. This initiative is part of the "1.5 Million Vocational Training" program promoted by the Cambodian government. The program, offered by the Provincial Training Center of Ratanakiri (PTCRK) under the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, has seen a total of 2,271 individuals receive vocational training in 11 specialized fields from November 2023 to July 20, 2026. Among them, 1,722 participants belong to the targeted vulnerable groups. The main specialized fields offered include electricity, information technology, motorcycle repair, construction, beauty services, hairdressing, banana cultivation, management, and harvesting, cashew nut cultivation, management, and harvesting, pastry making, beverage business, and electrical welding. The PTCRK is opening new courses and is currently accepting applications. Applicants must be at least 15 years old and possess a Cambodian identification card or birth certificate. Furthermore, participants who hold a social protection card (level 1 or 2 poverty card) or a certificate identifying them as a vulnerable family will receive additional monthly subsidies. This program is expected to provide opportunities for economic self-reliance to participants and contribute to the revitalization of the local economy. It represents a significant effort to create employment for youth and reduce poverty, particularly in rural areas like Ratanakiri province.
