AI Summary

VinFast maintains its leadership in Vietnam's EV market for 24 consecutive months, exceeding 20,000 monthly deliveries. The company's global strategy, including expansion into Indonesia, is driving its growth. Vietnam's economy also sees export expansion and industrial upgrading.

Maintaining monthly deliveries above 20,000 units despite August coinciding with the seventh lunar month (traditionally a low season in Vietnam, as many people tend to avoid major undertakings) further underscores the strong appeal of electric vehicles and VinFast’s clear leadership in Vietnam’s automotive market for 24 consecutive months. Indonesia is one of the key pillars of VinFast’s global growth strategy. Since entering the market, VinFast has rapidly expanded its product portfolio, commenced operations at its manufacturing facility in Subang, and built a comprehensive EV ecosystem through a growing network of strategic partners. The company sold a total of 137,697 vehicles in the first seven months of the year, maintaining its leading position in Vietnam’s electric vehicle market. As Vietnam’s economy has grown, so has its appetite for Norwegian salmon. Fresh Norwegian salmon exports to Vietnam reached approximately 7,900 tonnes in 2025, an increase of 40% from the previous year. The growing number of exporters shows that Vietnam’s automobile industry is entering a new stage of development. However, international markets also present major challenges related to localisation, supporting industries, technological capabilities, human resources and country-specific technical standards. Assoc. Prof. and Dr Ngo Tri Long of the Vietnam Financial Consulting Association proposed reviewing legislation across the entire chain of economic activities to identify and address key points of intersection in support of the green and circular transition in a consistent manner, preventing legal gaps and enabling waste to genuinely become a resource. Vietnam is shifting its investment attraction focus from quantity to quality and efficiency. Under the draft Law, the Government will periodically adjust market access restrictions for foreign investors based on socio-economic conditions and management requirements. This approach could shorten policy lags amid rapid changes in international capital flows, technology and supply chains. Thailand is a major trading partner of Vietnam in ASEAN. Bilateral trade reached more than 22 billion USD in 2025 and continued to grow strongly this year, reaching 18.5 billion USD in the first eight months, up 30.6% year-on-year. Vietnam's capacity to export to international markets via container vessels is also improving, with the first batch of finished buses manufactured by Kim Long Motor marking a new development in logistics capacity and port connectivity in the central region. Vietnam Defence Expo 2026 will cover about 123,800 sq.m and feature seven main areas, including spaces showcasing defence-economic products and the cultural heritage of Vietnam’s three regions.
