Ho Chi Minh City Enhances Power Safety Measures for Rainy and Stormy Season

The Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC) is implementing comprehensive safety measures, prioritizing the continuity of power supply and the protection of citizens' lives and property, ahead of the season prone to typhoons, heavy rains, and tidal surges. Specifically, efforts are underway to inspect and reinforce infrastructure to prevent risks of landslides and rockfalls in highland areas. This is a preventive measure in response to the increasing frequency of extreme weather events due to climate change. In low-lying areas and along rivers, measures are being taken to minimize the impact of flooding on equipment. These include elevating substations and distribution facilities and implementing waterproofing measures. In addition to these measures, EVNHCMC is also focusing on establishing a rapid recovery system for emergencies. Plans are being made for the deployment of personnel and equipment to quickly identify the cause and carry out restoration work in the event of unexpected power outages. Power infrastructure in Vietnam is the foundation supporting rapid economic growth, and its stable supply is directly linked to people's lives. In densely populated areas like Ho Chi Minh City, power outages during natural disasters can have severe impacts not only on economic activities but also on citizens' daily lives.
