Typhoon Dujuan's Influence: Cambodia Forecasts Rain, Thunderstorms, and High Waves

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology announced on September 18th that a low-pressure area over the Western Pacific has evolved into Typhoon Dujuan, the 25th storm of the season. This typhoon is expected to influence the southwest monsoon, affecting areas including the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, South China Sea, Mekong River basin, Cambodian Sea, and the entire Kingdom of Cambodia. However, Cambodia is not directly in the typhoon's path. Weather conditions are forecast as follows from September 18th to 20th: 1. Plains Areas: Minimum temperature 25°C, maximum 33°C. Winds from the southwest and northwest at an average speed of 3 meters per second. In highland areas such as Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Pursat, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kandal, and Phnom Penh, there is a 50% chance of rain with thunderstorms and strong winds. In coastal areas like Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, and the Bokor Mountains, there is a 60% chance of rain with thunderstorms and strong winds. 2. Highland Areas: Minimum temperature 24°C, maximum 31°C. Winds from the southwest and west at an average speed of 5 meters per second. These areas have a 70% chance of rain with thunderstorms and strong winds. 3. Coastal Areas: Minimum temperature 25°C, maximum 34°C. Winds from the southwest and southeast at an average speed of 3 meters per second. In coastal regions such as Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, and the Bokor Mountains, there is a 60% chance of rain with thunderstorms and strong winds. Sea wave heights are predicted to range from a minimum of 0.50 meters to a maximum of 1.75 meters.
