Taguig Infra Probe to Uncover 'Delicious' Details, Says Lacson
The Philippine Senate's Blue Ribbon Committee is set to launch an investigation into alleged anomalies in infrastructure projects in Taguig City. Senator Panfilo Lacson, leading the probe, indicated that "old and new tricks" were employed, differing from past cases, and expects detailed findings to be revealed.
MANILA, Philippines — The Senate Blue Ribbon committee’s planned investigation into alleged anomalous infrastructure projects in Taguig City will expose “delicious” details behind at least five case studies made by Sen. Panfilo Lacson’s team and submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman. Lacson made the remark in response to Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano’s accusation that his allegations were “malicious.” “Malicious has become delicious – perhaps he has already cracked. The public can partake of the delicious part by watching the Blue Ribbon committee hearings, where the truth behind the five Taguig case studies we submitted to the ombudsman will be exposed,” Lacson said in a post on X. The senator submitted documents to the ombudsman on Tuesday, saying the evidence could support complaints for plunder, malversation and violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. Lacson said the alleged anomalies in Taguig differed from previous cases his team had examined in Bulacan because they involved a combination of “old and new tricks.” He also claimed that infrastructure projects in Taguig reached P14.4 billion from 2020 to 2025, “and still counting.” Lacson said his team would submit more evidence to the ombudsman as it becomes available, but stressed that this would not prevent the Senate from conducting its own inquiry. “It does not preclude any action that the Blue Ribbon committee may take in the course of its investigation into the flood control anomalies, depending on the appreciation of the chairman and committee members,” he said. Cayetano welcomed Lacson’s move.
