Revolutionary forces call for nationwide public action on Martyrs' Day on July 19 with the slogan 'All Martyrs are Immortal in History', demanding the release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and political prisoners

Yangon, July 14 It has been learned from revolutionary forces and public action steering committees that a nationwide public action will be carried out on July 19, the 79th Martyrs' Day, with the slogan 'All Martyrs are Immortal in History'. The statement indicated that although the military council is attempting to erase historical truths, indoctrinate the new generation, and destroy the statues of General Aung San to conceal the spirit of martyrs, the historical spirit of martyrs, with the people's desire for freedom and yearning for justice, cannot be destroyed by any power. It has been called for the entire public to participate in this July 19 event, urging them to pay homage to the fallen great martyrs from wherever they are at 10:37 AM on July 19 by remaining silent, sounding sirens, and honking car horns. It also calls for the expression of grief and the unwavering spirit of continued revolution through the 'Black Movement' by wearing black clothing, black ribbons, or black hats. Furthermore, it is understood that by gathering in respective regions and marching to the statues of General Aung San, independence monuments, and the tombs of fallen martyrs, the public will demonstrate that they will always remember the history of the martyrs. In addition, it has been learned that the three main demands of the upcoming Martyrs' Day public action are the immediate release of national leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners, the immediate abolition of the conscription law (Porter Law) that is causing suffering to the people, and the reaffirmation that U Win Myint is the legitimate President of Myanmar and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is the State Counsellor. It has been reported that the public is urged to participate with the strength of the people in this Martyrs' Day public action, in honor and respect of the courage and merits of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for independence, equality, and democracy throughout the ages.
