26 Myanmar fishermen detained for illegal entry into Indian territorial waters return to Yangon

Twenty-six Myanmar fishermen, who were detained in Port Blair, India, for illegally entering Indian territorial waters, returned to Yangon by air on the evening of July 24, it has been learned. Officials from the Myanmar Embassy in New Delhi and the Myanmar Consulate General's Office in Kolkata worked closely with the relevant Indian authorities to ensure the safe return of the Myanmar fishermen to Myanmar. They facilitated the issuance of Certificates of Identity, arranged air travel, and provided close coordination for other necessary arrangements, it has been learned. Upon arrival at Yangon International Airport, officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Immigration and Population Department welcomed them and provided necessary support. The State Government is giving special attention to the affairs of its citizens abroad. It has been learned that the relevant Myanmar Embassies and Consulate General's Offices are continuously providing necessary consular assistance to rescue and facilitate the return to Myanmar of Myanmar citizens facing difficulties and hardships in foreign countries for various reasons.
