Senate President Hun Sen Donates 102 Houses to Veterans in Preah Vihear

Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has announced the donation of 102 houses to veterans in Preah Vihear province during a meeting with more than 800 provincial and local officials on Friday. This initiative underscores the commitment to strengthening support for veterans and retirees in the province. Of the total, 52 houses are funded by the Cambodia Veterans and Pensioners Association, while the remaining 50 are contributed by H.E. Phoeun Phalla, an adviser to Samdech Techo. Speaking at the gathering, Samdech Techo commended provincial authorities and civil servants for their work and urged officials at all levels to continue improving public service delivery, maintaining national stability, strengthening public security, and combating crimes, including drug trafficking and cybercrime. He also called on authorities to continue supporting veterans and retirees in recognition of their contributions to the country's development. Samdech Techo reaffirmed that retired officials from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport remain automatic members of the Cambodia Veterans and Retirees Association and are entitled to the association's benefits. In addition, he instructed local authorities to expedite the resolution of land disputes through impartial mediation, particularly outside the court system, and stressed the importance of protecting Preah Vihear's natural resources. According to Preah Vihear Governor H.E. Kim Rithy, the province is rich in natural resources and cultural heritage, including the UNESCO-listed Preah Vihear Temple and Koh Ker archaeological site. Agriculture remains the province's economic backbone, with expanding production of organic rice, cashew nuts, cassava, mangoes, and rubber. The visit marked Samdech Techo's 20th provincial outreach mission, covering 23 provinces and the capital, aimed at strengthening accountability, improving local governance, and enhancing public service delivery.
