95 Myanmar migrant workers who served sentences in Thailand sent back to Myawaddy

It has been learned that 95 Myanmar migrant workers who have completed their prison sentences in Thailand have been sent back to Myawaddy. It has been learned that Myanmar nationals were sent back from Ranong, Thailand to Myawaddy, Tanintharyi Region on July 2. It has been learned that 95 Myanmar nationals, including 79 males and 16 females, who had violated existing Thai laws for various reasons and served their sentences, were detained at the Immigration Police Station IDC in Ranong City, Ranong District, Thailand. They were transferred by 8 motorboats led by U Aung Soe Than, the labor attaché based in Ranong, and were welcomed and received by Deputy Chief U Ye Zar Ni of the Township Administration Committee, Deputy Police Colonel Aung San Win of the No. 2 Anti-Human Trafficking Force, and district/township officials. "These Myanmar nationals are individuals who violated the law in the southern regions of Thailand and were imprisoned. They have been released upon completion of their sentences. They are sent back to Myawaddy via Ranong, and we receive them here and send them back to their hometowns," said a local resident of Myawaddy. It has been learned that the Myanmar nationals who returned were subjected to checks for COVID-19 and other infectious diseases, their personal information was collected by officials, and checks were conducted to see if CDM staff, individuals on the blacklist, wanted persons for human trafficking, victims of human trafficking, and fugitives were among them. It was also learned that those who had not yet obtained any identification documents from the immigration department were issued NVCs (Temporary Identification Cards for National Scrutiny) and smart cards. The purpose of issuing NVCs is to enable them to easily obtain National Scrutiny Cards at the nearest immigration office upon their return to their hometowns.
