Vietnam Launches Nationwide Environmental and Rural Development Campaign Led by Youth Union

Across Vietnam, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee has simultaneously launched nationwide campaigns titled "Contributing to Building New Rural Areas" and "Green Sunday," in response to the "Campaign for a Cleaner World" in 2026. The initiative officially kicked off on September 20th with a ceremony in Ea Nuôl xã, Đắk Lắk province. As part of the campaign, delegations from the Central Committee and Ho Chi Minh City paid tribute to heroes and martyrs at Côn Đảo. Representatives from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense commemorated President Ho Chi Minh. Furthermore, the Central Committee visited and presented gifts to individuals with merit in Nghệ An province. The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union stated that bizarre and offensive "team rituals" would not be tolerated. The Border Guard force of Đắk Lắk province organized a competition for "Excellent Youth Union Cadres and Young Propagandists" in 2026. In the border areas of the province, the construction of six "Great Solidarity" houses for disadvantaged families has commenced. Additionally, the Central Committee presented nearly 3 billion VND (approximately $130,000 USD) to residents of Đắk Lắk province affected by Typhoon No. 13. This campaign is part of the organized efforts under the Communist Party's leadership, aiming to encourage social contributions from the youth and contribute to national development goals in Vietnam's one-party system. As Vietnam continues its economic growth, raising environmental awareness and developing rural areas are crucial for sustainable development. Especially amidst complex relations with China, fostering national unity and social contribution awareness is a key policy objective for the government to maintain domestic stability and progress.
