The provincial government of Isabela in the Philippines is focusing on strengthening its cacao industry by promoting value-added products and expanding support for local farmers. During the 2nd Isabela Cacao Festival held recently, local growers showcased a range of products including chocolates, tablea (a solid chocolate drink base), and specialty beverages. Concurrently, practical training sessions were conducted covering production techniques, post-harvest processing, pest management, and financial management, aiming to enhance the farmers' skills. Provincial Agriculturist Sergio ST. Galamgam stated that the provincial government is collaborating with national agencies and industry partners to expand plantations, improve processing technologies, and create more market opportunities. This initiative is expected to solidify Isabela's position as a leading cacao-producing province in the country and contribute to increased farmer incomes. Echague Mayor Faustino “Inno” A. Dy V emphasized that sustained government support and stronger partnerships would help elevate Isabela as one of the nation's foremost cacao-producing provinces, thereby providing farmers with more profitable livelihoods. In the Philippine economy, the agricultural sector forms the backbone of regional economies. Enhancing value through processing and exporting agricultural products is crucial for improving national income and economic development.
