AKP Phnom Penh, August 6, 2026 -- Cambodia and the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) signed a five-year action plan on Wednesday aimed at bolstering French language education and teacher training across the Kingdom. H.E. Luy David, Cambodian Ambassador to France – representing Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron – signed the agreement on Aug. 5 alongside Mr. Désiré Nyaruhirira, Special Advisor to the OIF Secretary-General and acting Asia-Pacific representative. The five-year roadmap focuses on six key initiatives: revising French-Khmer bilingual and science curricula, producing updated textbooks, strengthening teacher training, introducing OIF digital learning platforms, expanding Ministry capacity-building tools, and deploying international volunteer teachers to local schools. The strategic pact underscores a joint commitment between Cambodia and the OIF to elevate instructional quality and advance broader educational reform ahead of Cambodia's hosting of the 20th Francophonie Summit in late 2026.
