National Defence Personnel Continue Flood Relief Operations in Northern Laos

National defence personnel in Oudomxay Province have continued emergency flood relief operations for a fourth consecutive day, helping affected residents recover their homes and clear debris following severe flooding in Xay District. According to provincial news reports, personnel from the Oudomxay Provincial Military Command are carrying out relief work in Lak 4 Village and at a brick factory in Thieu Village, Xay District. The teams are assisting residents with cleaning and restoring damaged homes, removing mud and debris, and clearing affected areas to help communities recover from the recent floods. The ongoing operation forms part of broader disaster response efforts by provincial authorities and national defence and public security forces to support communities affected by heavy rainfall and flooding. Authorities continue to assess damage and coordinate relief and recovery measures, while personnel remain ready to assist residents in areas requiring urgent support. Flooding across Khammouane Province between July and August 2026 has affected around 151,000 residents across all 10 districts, with preliminary damage estimated at more than 275.57 billion kip, as provincial authorities accelerate recovery efforts and further damage assessments.
