Massive Chicken Farm Fire in Bali Kills 24,000 Birds, Causes Rp1 Billion in Damages

A massive fire engulfed a chicken farm in Banjar Dinas Tibudalem, Pujungan Village, Pupuan District, Tabanan Regency, Bali, on Friday night (September 18), resulting in the deaths of 24,000 broiler chickens. The total estimated loss is around Rp1 billion (approximately USD 65,000). Kasi Humas Polres Tabanan, Iptu Ni Putu Wiwik Endrayani, stated that the major fire occurred around 10:39 PM WITA. "The material loss is approximately Rp1 billion, in the form of a 100x12 meter cage along with 24,000 broiler chickens," Wiwik said on Monday afternoon (September 21). Wiwik confirmed that there were no fatalities or injuries in the incident at the farm owned by I Made Dharma Wiguna. The fire was first noticed by a witness named Deden Rizky Nugraha, who heard a bamboo popping sound from the direction of the coop. Deden then contacted the night watchman, I Nyoman Anggi Hermawan. Upon receiving the information, Anggi rushed to check the location. He found the fire had intensified at the back and was burning half of the cage building. Realizing the danger, Anggi immediately asked for help from his colleagues. To prevent the fire from spreading, they evacuated several motorcycles in the vicinity to a safer place. After that, the witnesses immediately contacted the cage owner and the Tabanan Regency Fire Department (Damkar). While waiting for the officers to arrive, local residents attempted to extinguish the fire with available equipment. "Around 00:09 WITA, one fire engine arrived at the scene. The officers, along with residents, worked to extinguish the fire for approximately 45 minutes until it was finally put out," Wiwik added. Regarding the cause of the fire, the police suspect it originated from a leak in the LPG gas used as a heating tool inside the cage. For this incident, the victim has accepted it.
