Vietnamese Experts in Canada Urged to Increase Contributions to Homeland

At a meeting with representatives of the Canadian Vietnamese Scientists and Experts Association (CVSEA) on September 25 (local time) in Vancouver, Canada, the top leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President praised the contributions and professional capabilities of Vietnamese experts and intellectuals in Canada. The leader described them as a "valuable intellectual resource" and an "important bridge" connecting Vietnam with Canada and the wider world. This underscores Vietnam's ongoing efforts to leverage the expertise of its overseas talent for national development. As a socialist republic under a one-party system, Vietnam prioritizes economic growth. Integrating international knowledge, particularly in science and technology, is considered crucial for enhancing the nation's competitiveness. In parallel with its complex relationship with China, Vietnam is also seeking to strengthen ties with Western countries, and collaboration with experts residing in developed nations like Canada is seen as part of this strategy. This meeting appears to be more than just a social gathering; it signals the Vietnamese government's intent to encourage active participation from overseas Vietnamese communities, especially those with advanced professional knowledge, in the country's development.
