The police in Banteay Meanchey province have arrested a Thai national suspected of fatally shooting another Thai tourist in Poipet city and have sent him to court. The suspect is believed to have had a verbal altercation with the victim before the shooting.
The Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police in northwestern Cambodia have arrested a Thai national suspected of murdering another Thai tourist in Poipet city and have sent him to court. The arrested suspect is identified as Porawat Thong Hmon, a 26-year-old Thai male. The shooting incident occurred around 3 PM on July 28th in Samaki Meanchey Village, O'Chrov Sangkat, Poipet City. The victim was identified as Jusuwan Thong Chai, a 33-year-old Thai male and a tourist staying in Poipet City. According to police reports, the suspect allegedly fired two shots at the victim while the latter was riding a motorcycle, resulting in the victim's death at the scene. Police suspect the motive behind the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute or verbal argument between the suspect and the victim. The suspect has been charged with intentional homicide and illegal possession of a firearm, facing a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years if found guilty.
