Cambodia's Ministry of Justice to Investigate Procedural Irregularities at Stung Treng Provincial Court

Cambodia's Ministry of Justice, under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Kaet Rith, has decided to refer a case involving allegations of procedural irregularities by judicial officials at the Stung Treng Provincial Court, brought forth by complainants Sles Feurt and Noh Soloth, to the Disciplinary Council of the Supreme Council of the Magistracy. This referral serves as a basis for further oversight by the council. Eam Chankmora, spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice, stated on Friday, September 10, "As the spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice, I wish to inform the public and all members of the press: Firstly, regarding the case of Sles Feurt and Noh Soloth, who have raised allegations of procedural violations by judicial officials at the Stung Treng Provincial Court, the parties concerned have filed a separate direct complaint with the Supreme Council of the Magistracy. In this regard, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice has decided to forward this case through the established procedures to the Disciplinary Council of the Supreme Council of the Magistracy for thorough investigation and action in accordance with the law and procedures within the disciplinary framework of the Supreme Council of the Magistracy, should any wrongdoing be found." The spokesperson further added, "Secondly, the Ministry of Justice has also dispatched a working group to conduct further investigations into this case. The results of this investigation will be submitted to the Disciplinary Council of the Supreme Council of the Magistracy to serve as an additional basis for their oversight." This decision is seen as part of the Cambodian government's efforts to ensure transparency and accountability within its judicial system.
