PNP Gears Up for Bar Exams Security

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is implementing comprehensive security measures to ensure the safety of aspiring lawyers during the Bar examinations scheduled for September 6, 9, and 13. PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated that sufficient police personnel will be deployed to secure the schools designated as testing venues, ensuring peace and order. The Supreme Court has assigned 15 schools as testing centers: seven in Metro Manila, three in Luzon, three in the Visayas, and two in Mindanao. Nartatez emphasized that a security plan, similar to those for other major events, is in place to guarantee the safety of examinees, their parents, and other stakeholders. In addition, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has ordered a liquor ban within a 500-meter radius of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and San Beda University. This ban will be in effect from midnight of September 5, 8, and 12 until 10 p.m. on the succeeding days. Ambulant vendors will also be restricted near the UST and San Beda campuses during the exams. The Manila city government will implement road closures as part of the security arrangements.
