Cambodia's Deputy PM Meets Party Members in Battambang, Urges Unity for Commune Elections

Samdech Krolahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Deputy Head of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Working Group for Battambang Province, presided over a meeting with working group members and party members in Kamrieng District, Battambang Province on September 13, 2026. Speaking on behalf of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the CPP, Samdech Krolahom Sar Kheng expressed his high appreciation and praise for the working group and its collaborators in Kamrieng District, as well as all leaders, officials, party members, and supporters of the CPP throughout the district, who have collectively committed to bringing successive victories for the party in past national and sub-national elections. He also commended the government working group for the district, the commune-level government working groups, and the authorities and security forces across Kamrieng District for their cooperation in implementing the political program, the first phase of the Pentagonal Strategy, and various reform programs of the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly. Their efforts have contributed to maintaining and strengthening political peace and stability, security, and public order, promoting local development, enhancing public service delivery, and working together to resolve local challenges to meet the needs and demands of the people. Samdech Krolahom Sar Kheng highlighted the evolving international, regional, and national situations, as well as the party's guiding principles. He urged a collective commitment to securing an absolute victory in the upcoming 6th mandate commune/sangkat council elections in 2027. He further stated that during the period of Thai aggression into Cambodian territory, the party working group, the government's working group, and authorities at all levels mobilized the people of Kamrieng District to strengthen national solidarity under the spirit of "One Cambodia" around the government. This involved protecting territorial integrity and national sovereignty, with active participation in providing moral, material, and financial support to heroic soldiers and their families, as well as to refugees and returning Cambodians from Thailand. These actions reflect the will, spirit of solidarity, and firm determination of the Cambodian people to jointly defend the land and the supreme national interests. Samdech added that the CPP and the government, stemming from the CPP, are firmly committed to regularly organizing free, fair, and just elections, both national and sub-national, in accordance with the mandates set by the Constitution and election laws. This is to promote and strengthen liberal multi-party democracy and political stability as a foundation for national development. The government has set Sunday, June 6, 2027, as the date for the 6th mandate commune/sangkat elections, adhering to the 5-year term stipulated by law.
