32 Fishermen Rescued Near Spratly Islands Safely Returned

The Coast Guard Region 2 Command on May 10 successfully carried out an emergency rescue operation for a fishing vessel carrying 57 fishermen after it was severely damaged in a collision with an unidentified cargo ship in waters near the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago. Medical personnel from Naval Region 4 conducted health checks on the fishermen. Their physical and mental conditions were generally stable. Vietnamese authorities also provided the Chinese side with photographs and video footage recording the rescue operation and repairs to the vessels, demonstrating transparency and Vietnam’s full efforts in maritime search and rescue. The incident highlights Vietnam's extensive maritime search and rescue capabilities and the importance of international cooperation in the region. Under its one-party system, Vietnam continues to strengthen its organizations like the Coast Guard and Navy to maintain national sovereignty and the safety of its citizens.
