Kachin State Government provides over 5,000 sacks of rice to 41 IDP camps

The Kachin State Government held a ceremony at the Manaw Shwe Pyi Hall in Myitkyina to provide over 5,000 sacks of rice to 41 internally displaced persons (IDP) camps. For 2,345 households, totaling 11,927 people, who have taken refuge in 21 IDP camps in Wai-Maw Township, 2,345 sacks of rice (worth over 220 million Kyats) were provided. Additionally, for 1,694 households in 20 camps within Myitkyina city, 1,694 sacks of rice were provided at a rate of one sack per household (worth over 110 million Kyats). The ceremony was held on August 29 and September 1 at the Manaw Shwe Pyi Hall in Myitkyina, where Kachin State Chief Minister U Hket Htin Nan handed over the sacks of rice to the displaced people. The Chief Minister told the displaced people that the State Government will continue to provide assistance as much as possible to alleviate their basic difficulties in food and clothing, and that necessary needs will be met in cooperation with the relevant departments. This assistance is for temporary shelters in the IDP camps located in Ward No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 of Wai-Maw Township, as well as in the IDP camps of Mott Lwe, Khat Cho, Mine Nar, and Naung Taw Law, and in the temporary shelters of Wu Yan village group. These displaced people are fleeing conflict from the areas of Lamyan, Madein, Shwe Nyaung Pin, Mott Lwe, Aung Myay (1)(2), Naung Si Pau, Gara Yan, Kazu, Nam San Yan, Dabhat Yan, Malan Yan, Wa Shaung, Nant Wa, Dein Jan Yan, Chi Fway, Sot Law, Banmow, Injane Yan, and Sadon. The displaced people expressed their gratitude and reported on their difficult living conditions. In previous years, the Kachin State Government has also provided support such as rice, oil, eggs, and instant noodles to temporary shelters in Wai-Maw Township.
