RCBC Extends P1 LRT-2 Fare Promo to Boost Digital Payments

Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) has extended its P1 fare promotion for MySSS Cardholders on the LRT-2 (Manila Light Rail Transit Line 2) until August 31. This initiative aims to further accelerate the shift towards digital fare payments following the implementation of the Automated Fare Collection System on the railway. According to RCBC, the number of unique MySSS Card users tapping into the LRT-2 payment system surged by 95 percent within two weeks of the promotion's launch, while total transit transactions climbed by 57 percent. This strong early uptake has led to the decision for an extension. Under the extended offer, eligible MySSS Cardholders can enjoy fares of P1 for up to eight LRT-2 rides per day. Standard fares will apply starting with the ninth ride. The promotion is available to holders of the MySSS Card Powered by RCBC DiskarTech, as well as RCBC Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards. This effort is seen as a significant step in promoting cashless transactions in the Philippines. Digital payment adoption in Philippine transportation is on the rise, with the government actively promoting cashless initiatives. RCBC's extended promotion aligns with these national policies, aiming to enhance public convenience and expand financial inclusion.
