Vietnam-Russia Strategic Technology Forum to be Held in Moscow

Vietnam and Russia are set to organize the Vietnam-Russia Strategic Technology Connectivity Forum on September 9 in Moscow, aimed at fostering strategic technology cooperation. The event, jointly hosted by Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology and Russia's Ministry of Science and Higher Education, is expected to draw nearly 400 delegates, including high-level leaders, representatives from regulatory bodies, research institutions, universities, and businesses from both nations. The forum will feature three main sessions to discuss the expansion of scientific and technological cooperation between Vietnam and Russia, with a focus on areas crucial for future technological and industrial development. The first session will concentrate on Vietnam's strategic technology needs, potential for research and development (R&D) collaboration, co-investment, technology transfer, and the connection of organizations and businesses from both countries. Notable Russian participants are expected to include Grigory Trubnikov, Director of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR); Valery Bukhtiyarov, Director of the G.K. Boreskov Institute of Catalysis, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences; and Alexander Blagov, Vice President of the Kurchatov National Research Center. Vietnam will be represented by experts, managers, and leaders from universities and research institutes in fields such as materials, atomic energy, and advanced technologies. Representatives from Vietnamese and Russian entities will also discuss fundamental research, the application of technology, and cooperation in training human resources for strategic technology between the two countries. New technologies like quantum technology will be discussed with participation from experts from Rosatom, Russia's state atomic energy corporation, and the Russian Quantum Center. In terms of application and transfer, topics will cover inter-regional cooperation, high technologies, the Nuclear Science and Technology Center project, and technologies applicable to Vietnam's industries. Representatives from AFK Sistema and PetroVietnam are also anticipated to join. Alongside the discussion sessions, a Vietnam-Russia Technology Partner Connection session will be held. Over 100 entities from both countries have registered prior to the event, covering diverse fields including nuclear energy, oil and petrochemicals, electricity and renewable energy, materials-chemistry-nanotechnology, information technology, AI, semiconductors and cybersecurity, mining and strategic minerals, marine science, and biomedicine. According to the organizing committee, the forum is expected to open new channels for connecting Vietnam's technological demands with Russia's research, development, and industrial capabilities, thereby expanding cooperation opportunities from research to application, transfer, and market entry. Vietnam and Russia are recognized for their potential in collaboration across numerous sectors, including digital technology, AI, cybersecurity, biotechnology, biomedicine, pharmaceuticals, machine manufacturing, smart transportation, and fundamental research. Both sides aim to further strengthen their ties in scientific and technological cooperation, innovation, and the cultivation of high-quality human resources.
