Cambodia Braces for Widespread Rain, Thunderstorms Amidst Tropical Depression Influence

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology of Cambodia announced on September 21st that the nation is expected to experience widespread rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds from September 21st to 23rd, influenced by Tropical Depression 'Dujuan' (T2625). The depression has intensified into a typhoon and is affecting the southwest monsoon blowing over the Bay of Bengal, South China Sea, Mekong River Basin, and the Cambodian Sea. However, Cambodia is not expected to be directly in the path of 'Dujuan'. The weather forecast for September 21st to 23rd is as follows: In the plains, temperatures will range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 33°C, with winds from the southwest and northwest averaging 3 meters per second. Areas in Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Poipet, Kampong Chhnang, Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Tboung Khmum, Prey Veng, Svay Rieng, Takeo, Kampot, and Phnom Penh capital city are expected to see rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds covering 50% of their territories. In the highlands, temperatures will range from a minimum of 24°C to a maximum of 31°C, with winds from the southwest and west averaging 5 meters per second. Kampong Speu, Pailin, Oddar Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, and areas along the Dangrek Mountains and Cardamom Mountains are expected to experience rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds covering 70% of their territories. Along the coast, temperatures will range from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 34°C, with winds from the southwest and southeast averaging 3 meters per second. Koh Kong, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, and areas around Bokor Mountain are expected to see rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds covering 60% of their territories.
