Pathum Thani Police Chief Orders Hunt for Aggressive Myanmar Workers Displaying Weapons

In Pathum Thani province, Thailand, police have launched a crackdown on a group of Myanmar workers who were seen displaying weapons and behaving aggressively. A video circulating on social media shows young individuals on motorcycles brandishing firearms and knives, causing significant fear among local residents. The video, which has been widely shared online, depicts several young workers, believed to be foreign laborers, riding motorcycles and openly displaying weapons such as guns and knives in a provocative manner. Accompanying text stated, "After work, Myanmar nationals are acting tough behind the Si Mum Mueang Market. You won't last long, brother!!! Did you come to Thailand to work or to be born here???" Such behavior has instilled considerable fear among the local population. Following the widespread circulation of the video and the public outcry, Police Major General Peerapon Chotikasathien, Commander of the Pathum Thani Provincial Police, has urgently ordered police investigators from three stations—Ku Khot, Pratunam Chulalongkorn, and Pak Khlong Rangsit—to combine forces, gather intelligence, and swiftly track down and arrest the group of foreign workers involved. Initial investigations have revealed that foreign workers in the area are divided into two distinct groups. It has been confirmed that a prior altercation between these two groups occurred on August 30th. The current incident, involving the display of weapons, is believed to be a retaliatory act and a form of challenge stemming from that earlier dispute. The police are committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice according to the law.
