Bac Ninh City Celebrates New Municipal Status

On the evening of September 19, Bac Ninh City in northern Vietnam hosted a special artistic program titled “Mạch nguồn Kinh Bắc - Vươn cao thời đại” (Kinh Bac's Source - Soaring High in the Era) to celebrate the National Assembly's decision to establish it as a city and its reception of the First-Class Labor Order. The event, held at a city square, symbolized the city's development and its leap into a new era. The establishment of city status is based on a decision by the Vietnamese National Assembly. The city was awarded the First-Class Labor Order in recognition of its achievements in promoting economic growth and urban development. This move is part of the national development strategy pursued under Vietnam's one-party system, aiming to strengthen administrative functions and revitalize the economies of provincial cities. On the same day, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien met with constituents in Bac Ninh province, and a decision to rename the Bac Ninh City Military Command was also announced. Furthermore, the presence of President To Lam at the city establishment ceremony indicated the high level of attention from the central government. In recent years, Bac Ninh City has successfully attracted high-tech companies, including Samsung Electronics, and has achieved rapid economic growth as one of Vietnam's major industrial hubs. The establishment of city status aims to build a more advanced urban management and service delivery system, supported by these economic achievements. The development of provincial cities like Bac Ninh is considered to contribute to the diversification and stabilization of the domestic economy, especially given Vietnam's strong economic ties with China.
