Thailand Ready for 2027 Asian BMX Championship, Olympic Qualifier

Thailand has announced that it is 100% ready to host the 2027 Asian BMX Championship, scheduled to take place from May 28-30, 2027, at the BMX Racing track in Kamol Sports Park (FBT), Suwinthawong Road, Nong Chok District, Bangkok. This track is noted as the only Supercross standard BMX racing track in the Asian region. General Decha Hemkrasri, President of the Cycling Association of Thailand (TCA) and also Vice President of the Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC), emphasized the significant importance of this championship for securing berths in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The selection regulations for the 2028 Olympic BMX event stipulate that the Asian Championship winner will automatically qualify. General Decha stated that the BMX Racing track at Kamol Sports Park is recognized for its standards in the Asian region. He also assured that the TCA's working group, with its continuous experience in hosting international cycling events, will ensure complete readiness regarding accommodation, food, transportation, and other facilities. Furthermore, he mentioned that the 2027 Asian Championship will also be held for three other disciplines: Road Race (in China), Mountain Bike (in Japan), and Track Cycling (in Malaysia). For Road Race and Mountain Bike, the Asian champions will also have the opportunity to qualify for the 2028 Olympics. However, the Track Cycling championship is used by the International Cycling Union (UCI) as a points-gathering race for Olympic qualification, with no continental champion spots and selection based solely on the points system, General Decha explained.
