Vietnam Launches Nationwide Campaign Against Human Trafficking

Vietnam is accelerating national efforts to strengthen its response to human trafficking. On July 30, in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, the Ministry of Public Security, in coordination with the Vietnam Women's Union Central Committee, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, and the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, held an launching ceremony for the "Joint Action to Prevent and Combat Human Trafficking" campaign. The campaign aims to raise the awareness of the entire population regarding the threat of human trafficking and to encourage the active participation of every citizen in prevention and eradication. Amidst social changes accompanying economic growth, Vietnam is focusing on supporting vulnerable populations targeted by traffickers and dismantling organized criminal groups. In recent years, numerous cases of human trafficking rings being busted have been reported across the country, with particularly malicious cases involving cross-border trafficking and victims under the age of 16. For instance, police authorities in various locations such as Nghe An, Lao Cai, and Da Nang have successfully dismantled human trafficking routes and rescued victims. Under Vietnam's one-party system, maintaining social order and ensuring the safety of its citizens are paramount. Countering such social issues is considered an indispensable element for national stability and development. To ensure the benefits of economic growth are distributed throughout society and to gain the trust of the international community, a firm stance against human rights violations like trafficking is required. This nationwide campaign signifies the Vietnamese government's determination to solve the problem through a multi-layered approach, involving not only government agencies but also civil society organizations and youth groups.
