Tropical Depression Luis: Signal No. 1 Up in 4 Luzon Areas

Tropical Depression Luis continues to move northwestward over the Philippine Sea, with Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 remaining in effect over four areas in Luzon, the state weather bureau said on Sunday afternoon. As of Sunday afternoon, Luis was located east of Aurora province, with its center approximately 330 kilometers east of Dimanacan, Dinapigue, Aurora. The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 70 kph, moving northwestward at 25 kph. The four areas under TCWS No. 1 are Cagayan, Batanes, Isabela, and Abra. Residents in these areas are advised to prepare for strong winds brought by the tropical depression. Pagasa continues to monitor the tropical depression's track and will issue updates as necessary. The Philippines is prone to numerous tropical cyclones annually, with the rainy season often bringing increased risks of floods and landslides, making weather advisories crucial.
