Cambodia Strengthens Party Organization for Local Elections, Looking Towards 2027

A mobilization meeting to promote a comprehensive plan for the upcoming 6th mandate Commune-Sangkat Council elections in 2027 was held in Musakrom Commune, Stoung District, Kampong Thom Province, Cambodia. According to the AKP (Agencia Kampuchea Press), the meeting was led by Mr. Chha Bunrith, representative of the party's grassroots working group in the commune, acting on behalf of Mr. Thao Cheath, deputy head of the party's grassroots working group for Kampong Thom Province. During the meeting, the composition of the party's grassroots working group for all 11 villages within Musakrom Commune was announced. The meeting also reviewed the results of the first half of 2026 and outlined the future direction of the commune's grassroots working group. Attendees included party officials, village party branch members, and youth working group members. Mr. Chha Bunrith conveyed greetings and deep concern from Mr. Thao Cheath to all members of the working group. He expressed high praise and appreciation for the grassroots working group's commitment and responsible implementation of the Cambodian People's Party's political programs, decisions, and guidelines, as well as their active efforts in political mobilization at the grassroots level. Furthermore, Mr. Chha Bunrith informed the meeting that based on the results of the first half of 2026 work review and future direction meeting of the Kampong Thom Provincial Party Grassroots Working Group held on July 4, 2026, Mr. Vongsey Vissoth, Standing Member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Kampong Thom Provincial Party Grassroots Working Group, had instructed all levels of working groups to pay close attention to effectively implementing the action plan for the 6th mandate Commune-Sangkat Council elections in 2027. Mr. Vongsey Vissoth noted that the situation is different from previous elections, citing structural changes in the electorate and significant, unprecedented challenges such as border disputes, the fight against online scams, economic issues, and the impact of people's livelihoods on election outcomes. In addition, Mr. Chha Bunrith appealed to all party members to unite in supporting the implementation of the party's political program to achieve victory in the 6th mandate Commune-Sangkat Council elections in 2027, as well as the general elections in 2028.
