Prabowo on PKB Cadres Wearing 'Prabowonomics' T-shirts: Gus Imin's Stratagem

President Prabowo Subianto responded humorously to Indonesian National Awakening Party (PKB) cadres wearing 'Prabowonomics' t-shirts at the party's 28th anniversary event, referring to it as a 'stratagem' by PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar, popularly known as Gus Imin. Prabowo stated that his own party, Gerindra, does not permit the wearing of such t-shirts, expressing gratitude for the gesture by PKB cadres while playfully questioning the intent behind their actions. "Even Gerindra doesn't wear those kinds of t-shirts, because I won't allow it. If you asked for permission, I wouldn't grant it," Prabowo said during his speech at the PKB event in Jakarta on Thursday (23/7). The president admitted to being touched, even to the point of tears, by the PKB cadres wearing white t-shirts with 'Prabowonomics' printed on them. "What more is there to say? If I stay here longer, tears might fall. Even Gerindra doesn't wear those t-shirts," he remarked, drawing laughter from the attendees. PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar explained the meaning of 'Prabowonomics,' stating, "For the past 20 years, Indonesia has been tossed around by circumstances beyond its control and dictated by the market. However, since President Prabowo took office, Indonesia has emphasized independence and does not want to be dictated by the market. What is that? The constitution. What is that? An economic mindset that President Prabowo believes in, which we write as Prabowonomics. What is that? Independence, not relying on anyone." Prabowo praised Gus Imin's cleverness in organizing the event, referring to him and Deputy Speaker of the House Sufmi Dasco as "two kancil (cunning fox character) leaders in Indonesia."
