Cambodian Minister of Public Works and Transport Pays Tribute to Late MP Chan Sarun
Cambodia's Minister of Public Works and Transport, Peng Ponea, attended the funeral of former Member of Parliament for Takeo province, H.E. Dr. Chan Sarun, who passed away at 81. The minister offered condolences to the family and paid tribute to the late MP's contributions.
On the morning of September 2, 2026, H.E. Peng Ponea, Minister of Public Works and Transport, led a delegation from the Ministry to attend the funeral and lay a wreath to pay respects to the late H.E. Dr. Chan Sarun, a Member of Parliament for Takeo province. The late H.E. Dr. Chan Sarun passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the age of 81 due to old age. On behalf of the leadership, officials, and all staff of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, H.E. the Minister, Peng Ponea, expressed his deepest condolences to Mrs. Sok Keo and her family, who have lost a husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He was described as a person of profound kindness, deep gratitude, and utmost respect for his children and grandchildren. In the past, H.E. Dr. Chan Sarun had strived with all his physical and mental strength, intellect, and spirit, persevering to raise, care for, and provide for his family in all aspects. He also imparted valuable advice, guidance, warmth, and immeasurable love to his children and grandchildren, helping them become outstanding intellectuals and good citizens. On behalf of the leadership, officials, and all staff of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the Minister also prayed for the soul of H.E. Dr. Chan Sarun to rest in peace in a blissful realm.
