DPWH Davao Region Chief Subpoenaed in Flood Works Probe

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation on Monday issued a subpoena to the director of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) office in Region XI (Davao) in connection with the NBI’s investigation into the flood works scandal. DPWH Davao Director Juby Cordon was served her subpoena at her office on Monday. This summons highlights the importance of transparency and accountability in infrastructure projects funded by public money. In the Philippines, irregularities and inefficiencies are often pointed out in infrastructure projects, especially those related to disaster preparedness. The NBI's current investigation is seen as an effort to address these issues and restore public trust.
