Cambodian People's Party Offers Condolences for Late Kay Samruom

The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) has officially offered its condolences following the passing of Kay Samruom, a member of the CPP Central Committee and Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee in Koh Kong. On Saturday, August 8, 2026, Som Soeun, a member of the CPP Central Executive Committee and Head of the Organization Committee, led a CPP delegation to pay respects and offer condolences to the family of the late Kay Samruom. Mr. Kay Samruom passed away at 10:09 PM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the age of 75, due to illness. His remains are being held for traditional funeral rites at Wat Ambar Tiyaram, also known as Wat Prek Svay, located in Stueng Veng commune, Khemarak Phoumin city, Koh Kong province. The CPP Central Executive Committee expressed its deepest sorrow and grief to the family of the deceased, praying for his soul to rest in eternal peace. They also extended wishes for the family to receive the five blessings of Buddhism: long life, beauty, happiness, strength, and wisdom. This event highlights the established practice within Cambodia's dominant political party of formally mourning the loss of its senior members. Kay Samruom held a significant organizational role in Koh Kong province, and his passing may lead to adjustments in party leadership and operations.
