More than 200 French companies, ranging from small to large enterprises, have established a presence in Cambodia, with an additional 35 subsidiaries of major French corporations expanding their investments within the country. Nicolas Fourrissy, Minister Delegate attached to the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France, in charge of Trade and Investment Attraction, highlighted the strengthening of the strategic and economic partnership between France and Cambodia. He noted that French companies play a significant role in various key sectors within Cambodia, including transportation, energy, finance, healthcare, tourism, hotels, and construction. Regarding bilateral trade and economic relations, Mr. Fourrissy stated that currently, over 200 French companies are expanding their businesses and investments in Cambodia, including 35 French subsidiaries and other French entrepreneurs. He specifically mentioned the significant contribution of French companies like Vinci in constructing the infrastructure for the luxurious new Techo International Airport. The trade volume between France and Cambodia is projected to reach 1.75 billion euros in 2025, an increase of 17.5% compared to 2024. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from France reached 692 million euros by the end of 2024, a 25% increase from 2023. France imports various products from Cambodia, including rice and bicycles, while exporting aircraft, agro-industrial products, and pharmaceutical products to Cambodia. As Cambodia prepares to host the Francophonie Summit, a historic visit by the President of France is anticipated. Mr. Fourrissy emphasized that this visit follows numerous meetings between the leaders of both countries, notably between French President Emmanuel Macron and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Paris, as well as informal encounters at the UN Ocean Conference and two meetings with His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni in 2023 and 2024.
