The Quezon City government allowed the INC to hold a rally on Wednesday but then revoked the permit for the religious sect to continue on Thursday, prompting the protesters to transfer to the Liwasang Bonifacio, a freedom park in Manila where permits are not required for public assemblies. “The PNP respects the local government’s decision to revoke the rally permit, which was based on the need to restore public convenience and ensure the safety of our commuters,” Nartatez said. “Without a permit, any assembly becomes a matter of public order and traffic management, and we will enforce the law with… firmness and fairness,” he explained. Despite the revocation of the INC’s permit and their transfer to Manila, Nartatez said he ordered the National Capital Region Police Office and the Quezon City Police District to maintain their deployment at areas where gatherings may take place.
