Battambang Institute of Technology Trains Nearly 4,000 Youth in 3 Years, Focusing on Market-Demand Skills

The Battambang Institute of Technology (BIT) in Battambang province, western Cambodia, has provided technical and vocational training to a total of 3,879 students over the past three years, corresponding with the tenure of Prime Minister Hun Sen. Of these students, 2,842 are from poor and vulnerable families, targeting socio-economic advancement. According to BIT Director Teng Chinda, the institute offers a wide range of educational programs from technical and vocational certificate levels 1, 2, and 3 (C1, C2, C3), to advanced technical diplomas, associate degrees, and bachelor's degrees in technology. The specialized fields currently being trained are specifically those with high demand in the labor market, including Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Information Technology, and Home Air Conditioning Services. Director Chinda emphasized that experienced instructors and modern facilities, including laboratories and workshops, support student skill acquisition. These facilities are compliant with the technologies and standards used by companies, ensuring the development of graduates ready to immediately contribute in the corporate sector. Furthermore, BIT has established a strong collaborative network by signing Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and Cooperation Agreements (MOAs) with domestic and international companies and institutions. This initiative aims to expand employment opportunities for students, with ongoing efforts to sign MOUs with new companies. BIT is located along National Road 5, opposite Battambang Airport.
