Vietnamese President Meets Vietnamese Community in Canada

On September 25 (local time) / September 26 (Hanoi time), in the capital Ottawa, President To Lam of Vietnam held a cordial meeting with officials and staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Canada. The meeting aimed to encourage the activities of the Vietnamese community in Canada and strengthen ties with the homeland. President To Lam encouraged Vietnamese living in Canada to contribute to the local society while cherishing Vietnamese culture and traditions. He also called for unity within the community and expressed his hope that they would contribute to Vietnam's development. Vietnam continues to grow economically under its one-party system, while also focusing on strengthening relations with its citizens living abroad. The diaspora, in particular, plays a significant role not only in remittances but also in cultural exchange and improving Vietnam's international image. As relations with China remain complex, Vietnam aims to build a broad network to maintain and expand its influence in Southeast Asia. Such meetings with overseas communities are seen as part of this effort.
