Junta forces have divided their troops into at least three routes to launch offensives around Phalu, Minlapan, and the new town of Legeikaw in southern Myawaddy township, and fierce fighting has been ongoing between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) allied forces and the junta forces for 20 days since the night of July 7. "Despite the frequent ground engagements and the excessive use of ground and air power, the coup army has suffered numerous casualties.
