Fertilizers are being sold through the cooperative system

Farmers are able to purchase and distribute fertilizers at affordable prices through the cooperative system to increase their crop yields and income in their agricultural work, said U Thaike Soe, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development. This was stated in response to a question raised by U Sein Lwin Oo, National Assembly representative for constituency No. 11 in Kachin State, on the 12th day of the second regular session of the third Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, held on July 3. The question was whether fertilizers could be sold to farmers in Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, at government-subsidized rates to increase their paddy yields and income, and to prevent a decrease in the township's paddy output. The leading committee for the purchase and distribution of urea fertilizer stated that it distributes and sells fertilizers to the respective regions by calculating the transportation and unloading costs based on the reference price in Yangon. Furthermore, Deputy Minister U Thaike Soe said that the leading committee is also supervising and implementing whether the fertilizers meet quality standards and whether there is any hoarding for price manipulation.
